The Andrew McMorris Foundation Scholarship was created to honor the memory of  a very special twelve-year-old boy who was tragically killed by a drunk driver while hiking with his  Boy Scout troop in the fall of 2018.

Andrew was full of life and positive spirit. His charisma was contagious. A friend to everyone, Andrew had a way to make everyone feel good about themselves, and he had a knack of bringing  people together. He consistently demonstrated his compassion and care for others on a daily basis  and would frequently give up something of himself for the benefit of others.

Andrew’s passion and zest for life was unrelenting, and he never wanted to waste a moment. He  loved music, scouting, painting, skiing, hiking, dancing and traveling, but most of all he loved  aviation. Ever since he could walk, Andrew dreamed that one day he would become a pilot and had  already taken his first flight lesson by the summer of 2018. Andrew was a dreamer who lived his life  to the fullest, and we are looking for a candidate who embodies these qualities.

The student candidate for this award should be able to demonstrate qualities of kindness, care,  selflessness and a concern for others including a commitment to the community, their education and  a strong desire to experience an impactful life.
